17 - 21 September 2007 Hyatt Regency Perth, Western Australia Pre Conference Workshops
Download a copy of the Program Weed Risk Assessment involves the determination of the potential weed risk a plant poses if allowed entry into a new region. WRA is traditionally used by Quarantine or Biosecurity Authorities at Country or State levels but its application also has merit at even lower levels such as Local Government, National Parks, Flora and Fauna Reserves and even private property as long as effective control is maintained on the entry of non-natives onto those properties (ie good biosecurity practises). The workshop will be an opportunity for practitioners, users and those interested in the dark art of Weed Risk Assessment to meet, exchange ideas and learn about how WRA is practiced around the world and under differing legal and political systems. The workshop will be limited in numbers as the venue is relatively small, hence no concurrent sessions. The two day format will focus on a number of selected talks, with time for moderated in-depth discussions of hot topics, networking and a general introduction to attendees of the many facets of the WRA process. Networking in this field is very important and we will endeavour to make sure there is ample opportunity for people to meet one another and exchange ideas. The workshop will be run as a satellite workshop of the EMAPi9 Conference being held in Perth, Western Australia from 17 to 21 Sept '07 and registration for the workshop will be through the EMAPi9 website www.congresswest.com.au/emapi9.
