During the eighties, Perth gained a well-earned reputation as an international meeting place. Its clean air, safe streets, open spaces and enviable lifestyle provide the perfect setting for conventions, events and exhibitions.

As the western gateway to Australia, Perth is close to Asian ports and the Eastern States of Australia, its proximity to Europe makes it especially appealing, and with a choice of routes, via Asia, Eastern Australia or New Zealand, it is an attractive alternative for American visitors.

Perth enjoys one of the most equable climates in the world, making it virtually an all-year round meeting destination. With its Mediterranean-type climate, Perth is Australia's sunniest state capital with an average of eight hours of sunshine daily throughout the year.

Arriving in Perth

Perth Airport is the international and regional gateway to Western Australia. Perth Airport is Australia's fourth largest airport in terms of passenger traffic. Located only 12 km north east from the heart of Perth, shuttle buses operate between the airports and Perth city and Fremantle, and hire cares and taxis are easily available.

As a general guide, taxi charges (AUD) from the international & domestic airports are as follows:

Perth / Northbridge $28 or $21 respectively

Fremantle $44 or $44

Scarborough $42 or $38

Joondalup $58 or $55

Climate

Perth enjoys warm to hot, dry summers and mild winters. During September, average temperatures range from 11° -20° Celsius.

Dress Standards

During the week of the Conference, we suggest delegates wear smart, casual & comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor field trips.

Conference Dinner - Semi Formal (Shirt and Tie and Cocktail Attire)

Time

Perth is on the same time zone as Singapore and Hong Kong and is three hours behind Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Registration

The Registration Desk at the Conference will be open throughout the conference and before the first session of each day

Delegates will be given their satchel and a personalised envelope at registration check in. The satchel will contain the Program/Abstract Book and other materials of use during their time at the Conference.

Visas

International visitors to Australia require a Visa or an electronic travel authority. It is your responsibility to ensure documentation is correct and complete before you commence your journey. Information on obtaining visas or ETA’s can be found on the web site www.eta.immi.gov.au

Insurance

Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that all delegates take out their own travel and medical insurance prior to coming to the Conference. The policy should include loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the Conference, or through cancellation of the Conference itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. Neither the Conference Secretariat nor the Organising Committee will take any responsibility for any participant failing to insure. Please speak to your travel agent or airline in regard to this matter.
