"Vision Matters" That’s our theme – and it does matter. It covers a whole range of topics which are of importance to us in Australia and elsewhere in the world. Matters of vision will be discussed in our sub- themes of Outback/Remote/Rural and Visual Impairment. The profession of nursing in ophthalmology also matters. Looking into the future where standards of competency and continuing education may well be applied to the workplace, we will hear from our colleagues in the United Kingdom about how the Competency Standards are applied in the UK. Given how other sectors of the health care professions are now required to document their evidence and status of competency skills, we believe this presentation will be of vital importance to all ophthalmic nurses interested in their long-term career. Competency standards for ophthalmic nurses will be launched at the Perth Conference.We urge you to attend.
